Congratulations to the Balakian Farms! Amber Balakian Featured on Sunset Magazine, O, The Oprah Magazine, Traffic Magazine, and Women in Ag

Amber Balakian and Tracy Sellers  filming for California Bountiful episode to be shown on +PBS
Amber Balakian is young woman who grew up on a farm in Reedley, CA.  She attended Harvard University’s Extension School and obtained her Master's degree.  In 2009, she returned to the family's 20-acre to farm and cultivate the beautiful tomatoes shown on the company's website, www.balakianfarms.com and Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/BalakianFarms.

The Balakian Family Farm produces 80 varieties of heirloom tomatoes and fruits.  Needless to say that Amber and her workers are very busy lately.  However, she continues to develop new ideas and produce new items for the market.  She manages to stay in touch with customers by using her social media skills.    is where she can be seen promoting her family's farm business.  Efficiency is the name of the game for Amber.  She got tired of her parents' dumping tons of fruit and vegetables.  That's why she started canning the heirloom tomatoes at a local Armenian church.  For two years, she worked hard to develop six flavors of blended heirloom tomatoes.  Looking back at her experience, she remains very proud to have used her grandmother's recipe

Young women are now interested in agriculture.  Reedley College starts seeing the interest of women in agribusiness too.  Daughters and sons of farmers are returning to the Valley to grow the foods that the rest of the U.S. needs.

The future of California Ag is in the hands of California women too.  These days, farmers' daughters and sons are returning home to develop new ideas on the family farm.
Way to go, Amber!  Keep up the good work.
